Building a Compliance Plan
Planning is a continuous cycle consisting of assessment, problem resolution and evaluation. Begin your plan by assessing your current operation. Identify the strengths and weakness of your current scheme.

Start by answering these questions:
YES NO Do you provide written rules to student-athletes and their families for complimentary admissions to athletic events?
YES NO Do you have effective means of communicating with your student-athletes and their families information about last-minute changes on ticket policies and procedures?
YES NO Have you automated your complimentary admissions system to ensure consistency in the application of NCAA, conference and school policies and regulations?
YES NO Do you have detailed logs of all significant events that occur during the process?
YES NO Have you eliminated manual procedures which can lead to errors, inconsistencies, and omissions in the application of the rules?
YES NO Can you let your ticket office staff know, at any time, exactly how many seats have been requested for an upcoming event?
YES NO Have you significantly reduced paperwork with online data capture directly from student athletes and their families?

If you can answer each question affirmatively, your school has an effective compliance program. Focus your action plan on diligence, monitoring, reducing costs and making your system more convenient for administrators, student-athletes, their families and friends.

Each "No" answer indicates an area where you should create an action item to specifically address the problem. Problems seldom disappear without action. Actions require planning to achieve desirable results.
